Well considering that Witchcraft is believed to be an ancient fertility religion, I would hope that there is something still sexual in nature left in the Rituals and worship. In some circles, sex is apart of their worship. It may be seen as a way to ground or release the energy raised within the Circle ritually, i.e. The Great Rite in actual. In other circles, what I have seen, is a sexual tension- In other words, where male and female energies are used in provocative ways to raise and heighten the sexual tension between them but also to direct that energy toward a goal. This is not to say that sex between coveners does not occur (not in Circle anyway) but, that it is the tension of it that is used to supplement the energy of the ritual. Once a level of ecstatic energy is achieved, the release is like that of a great orgasm. Not all covens practice a form of energy raising with the use of sex or sex magick, but there are some out there. Remember- Coveners come together in Perfect Love and Perfect Trust, when you add animal instinct - things can go either way.
